Let's all get along!

CFM believes we all have to get along with each other. Sharing the roads, sidewalks, and bike paths between car drivers, bike rider, and pedestrians (somewhere in here is also bladers, boarders, unicyclists, etc) is important.

It is also surprisingly difficult.

Some people treat bike paths like they are a sidewalk.

Some bike riders treat the sidewalk like a bike path.

Both of these are wrong. Whether through carelessness, ignorance, stupidity, cluelessness, or evil intent, we don't judge, we usually ring our LOUD bike bell and on good days, poeple in front of me on a bike path who shouldn't get off the path. We communicated and cooperated, and (on a really good day) no braking is required. We try to educate people about the pedestrian sidewalk and the bike path when they exist side-by-side. Many people, when informed, do the right thing and stay on the correct part of the path(s). We like those people!

Fagstein, one of the better local blogs, has a point of view on people in the wrong place on a bike path. Some of these are people on a bike path when/where they shouldn't be, and some should be more controlled when they are on the bike path. It's called "What part of bike path do you not understand? (Dogs, kids, kids with dogs, baby-carriages, runners, portapotties, cars, etc)

The final word goes to Rodney King,
"People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice.... Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."
