Take your bike on the weekend-schedule commuter train to Vaudreuil or Hudson to ride in the country
The AMT's suburban commuter train line permits bikes aboard the train on the weekend schedule.
Do you want to ride your bike in the country, but have no car to get across a bridge to the countryside?
How about taking an AMT commuter train?
The Vaudreuil-Hudson train goes out to the country 4 times per day on saturday.
What's the catch?
Maximum of 4 bicycles per train.
That's a big catch. If there are are 4 bikes in front of you, then you have to wait for the next train. If that is the last train of the day, and you want to get back to Montreal with your bike, then you're shit out of luck. Thanks AMT!
Do we think the AMT can do better than this? Yes!
We think the AMT could provide a baggage car for bicycle transport in the summer months. And this applies to ALL their suburban train lines.

I wonder why only 4 bicycles are allowed. That seems counter intuitive. I would hate to be the 5th rider on the last train of the day. It doesn't leave you with any options.
If it annoys you so, show up and tell the AMT:

I happened to be the 5th rider on the last train once and I was denied entry. Oh well, I just biked back. Advice for people using the train is to train out and bike in, that way if you're denied entry you still have plan B. The 4 bike rule is because they only have 4 bike lock up positions. But with added cars the # of position increases but unless this is reflected in the by-laws it will always be max 4.
If you are denied entry, and wasted a ticket, just e-mail the AMT and they'll refund the ticket.
