Killer of 3 cyclists never charged, never even identified
Lyne Duhamel, 39, Sandra De La Garza Aquila, 36, and Christine Deschamps, 44, died in May 2011 at 10 am on a sunny spring day riding their bicycles on Rt 112 near Rougement.
We have ridden on that road. It could have been us the driver killed.
The driver of the vehicle walked away with his life intact and was never charged with a crime. He was never publicly identified.
Fatigue at the wheel was blamed for the accident. But we don't call it an accident. Because there was a cause. And the cause was negligent driving.
Three women died. Two more were injured. And the driver didn't get charged with any crime. No court decided on his guilt or innocence.
These cyclists didn't hit the driver. The driver hit and killed these three cyclists.
Three women died.
It could have been you or someone you know.
Would you be satisfied that the driver would not be charged with a crime event though he had killed you? This was sunny daylight. There were six cyclists.
This is what courts and laws exist for. To make the guilty pay for their crimes. A crime was committed on that day in may in 2011 when these three women were killed.
They didn't "lose their lives."
They were killed.
And the killer was not charged with any crime.

Well stated, and I agree. Really worrisome is when more of these events happen and people start getting desensitized about how unfair the verdicts are, without the laws changing. Do law makers need to be personally and directly affected before they know how unjust the current rulings/laws are? Sad truth is the law covers intent to break rules, not bad driving.
All pro-car "driver did not commit a criminally negligent act" arguments will not be published. Because CLEARLY the driver did something wrong to have run down and killed these three people.
Any one who can even begin to contemplate the opposite (the driver is innocent) is a scumbag. And based on the comments this blog has received and will not publish, there are a lot of scumbags out there!
