destinations

The Guide Velo region Chaudière-Appalache, we like this guide a lot.

Good overview
of this very large region and the different rides in this guide

The advert for the Cycloroute de Bellechasse. It is a very promising 74 paved km of country riding. Possibly paradise. Here is the view as seen from space (river valley and forest):

Cycloroute de Bellechasse, south of Quebec city. Bikely map here.

Map of the Cycloroute de Bellechasse ride in the guide. (The guide gives parking directions. We like this.)

Update: we just got back: this is an amazing piste cyclable, one of the best we have ever done. Brand new, perfect asphalt, great terrain, away from roads, we highly recommend it - go there now!!!

The other destination: a tour around the Thetford area.

Our vague plan has finally reached the reality stage: we'll take a two day camping trip to the area south of Quebec City called Chaudière-Appalaches.

The region offers hills and valleys, maritime coastal rides, and Quebec city too. The best views of Quebec are from the bike path in Levis - and there's a great ferry ride across to Quebec - it is not to be missed.

Our explorations will take us inland. We'll be riding on the new Cycloroute de Bellechasse paved bike path to Armagh, and a also tour of the Thetford Mines region. Camping possibilities include St-Joseph-de-Beauce campground which we've been here before, and it has an excellent waterfall.

On the road again.

Nice biking blog site. Thanks for the information. Have you been on Ch. Roy (Velo QC Route 5)?

Hi. We've started thinking about our summer plans--rails-to-trails biking or something similar. I like your description, but we don't camp. Are there places to stay near the trail? Thanks. Linda
